now finally settled on the hub, resulting in a reduction in clamping torque
and movement between the wheel and hub.
The vibration was eventually noticed by the operator before the
wheel detached, but the towing costs, downtime and replacement of new
aluminium rim, studs and nuts, offsets any perceived monetary savings, and
has put at risk the lives of employees and public alike.
In the event of wheel detachment, the subsequent accident could result in
personal injury and truck loss, the financial consequences of which are
impossible to determine except in a court of law.
