WHEELNUT INDICATORS INSTALLATION
REDCAT strongly advises that the equipment
manufacturers periodic retorque wheel nut cycles and specifications are adhered to.
| 1 |
To aid efficiency, documentation and continuity, Fit
WHEELSAFE Wheel Nut Indicators during the scheduled maintenance workshop visit. |
 |
| 2 |
Check wheel nut, studs, rims and threads for damage as per
manufacturers recommendations. |
| 3 |
Lubricate threads and torque wheel nuts to manufacturers
specifications prior to fitting WHEELSAFE Wheel Nut
Indicators. |
| 4 |
Size the wheel nut by measuring the A/F [across the flats]
dimension, using a vernier gauge or a well fitting socket. |
| 5 |
The WHEELSAFE wheel nut indicator should be a tight slide fit to the washer
or hub face, with the raised collar as per diagram [right]. |
| 6 |
Fit the WHEELSAFES wheel nut indicator on the nuts in a uniform pattern [see
diagram below] Any pattern may be used as long as any
movement is clearly visible, this is normally dictated by
rim dimension and stud PCD.
REDCAT recommends point to point for a 10 stud 335mm PCD
rim.
Ensure the WHEELSAFE wheel nut indicator pointer has room to move and is not
aligned against the rim. |
| 7 |
Update documentation and staff education, check patterns
on normal daily pre shift walkround, report WHEELSAFE wheel
nut indicator
misalignment or distortion immediately. |
